On Friday, Dec. 5, House of Art
presented “Future of Fashion,” a
fashion show produced by and featuring students of DesignLab Miami. This was
the second event that House of Art hosted during Miami Art Week 2014.
The show showcased wearable fashion made from
unconventional materials and recycled items.
The students, ages 5 to 15, are no strangers to fashion shows. Their collections have been on runways in local schools, at the Miami Children’s Museum and at local organizations’ fundraisers.
DesignLab
has been nurturing a small cadre of designers for nearly five years. The North
Miami-based creative studio specializes in teaching and promoting multiple
aspects of the fashion industry to students of all ages, including sewing,
textile design, fashion technology and 3D printing. Design Lab Miami
House of art is a mélange of industrial, avant-garde, hip and traditional mixed-media art. Located in the heart of Miami’s internationally renowned Wynwood Arts District
