Artmiami.TV - Green Peace Event

May 12, 2012 was an eventful day in Miami Beach as people of all ages celebrated another year of Artmiami.TV's Environmental Awareness Day. The mission was to bring environmental awareness to the heart of South Florida through a day-long number of activities for everyone to enjoy.
The day kicked off at the Shelborne Hotel on South Beach where guests enjoyed pool side with cocktails and complimentary Vitamin Water. The fun continued as guests danced the day away leading up to the Greenpeace Beach Cleanup; people waved Greenpeace signs as they aided with the important effort to clean the beach.
Towards the sunset everyone came together for a flash mob style show while enjoying the soulful beats of African musicians and a mind blowing live painting session by Floyd, The Rock Artists, a pioneer in the Motion Art movement. Several mini LED flashlights were lit to form a large light bulb that could be seen from up high; the LED flash lights represented the Eco-friendly future while the light bulb symbolized an old energy source. The cameras of ArtMiami.tv captured everything from a helicopter that showed up upon the sunset.
The event was possible thanks to the support of several organizations and companies such as Greenpeace, Vitamin Water, Shelborne Hotel and Spyker, an eco-friendly luxury car from the Netherlands with exclusive dealers in North Miami and Pembroke Pines.

Williams McCall Gallery Showcases Array of Exceptional Art

Beautiful and original works of art are taking over the newest hot spot on Miami Beach, The Williams McCall Gallery, as the only fine art gallery on South of Fifth, South Beach. Media and guests were invited to attend an exclusive private viewing and champagne reception on Wednesday, May 2nd from 7 to 9pm, produced by Star Services. The focal point of the event was original works from ten of the most unique contemporary artists from South Florida and around the globe. Works of art were on display by artists such as: Joan Cobb Marsh, Ernie Bynum, Madeliene Abling, John Dowd, Enrique Flores-Galbis, Takahiro Maruno, Mike Wright, Marty Ittner, David Evans, and Larry Johnson.
The list of talented artists included: printmaker Takahiro Maruno’s abstract etchings of early years in suburban Tokyo; Mike Wright’s constructive assemblages from found objects; Marty
Ittner’s collages of layered wax and paper with fragments of ephemera; National Geographic photographer David Evans’ landscapes of hidden beauty; and sports artist and illustrator Larry Johnson’s representational oil paintings.

The private viewing took place at the Williams McCall Gallery located at 110 Washington Avenue, CU-3 on Miami Beach, Florida, 33139. Invited guests were a blend of residents from the neighboring high rise condominiums such as Continuum North and South, Icon, Apogee, Portofino, Murano Grande and Murano at Portofino, who enjoyed champagne by Piper Heidsieck and hors d’oeuvres by Red The Steakhouse, while taking in the artwork.
The Williams McCall Gallery opened its doors with an official grand opening back in February. The opening is a dream for Williams, who has combined her Wharton and Harvard education and three-decade long business savvy with her passion and friendships in the art world. Williams’ goal and that of her gallery is to place artists’ work in a wide range of public and private collections.

ArteAmericas 2012 - 10th Edition

As the premiere fair of contemporary art from Latin America, ArteAmerica’s 10th edition came back stronger than ever this year. Showcasing the latest trends in paintings, sculpture and multimedia. Galleries from all over Latin America participated representing hundreds of emerging and established artists, as well as renowned masters.

A diverse upscale audience enjoyed this world class art show from March 2 - 5 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Besides the 50 galleries and more than 300 artists featured this year, there were a series of four conversations called Art Talks, which engaged the fair’s public in the issues behind the making, collecting, exhibiting and analyzing of modern and contemporary art from Latin America

The philanthropic element is always present, and this year it was manifested by a silent auction of important work by Venezuelan Master Carlos Cruz-Diez that benefitted Art In Public Places, an organization that serves the community through the implementation of art installations and educational programming dedicated to enriching the public environment and to preserving and enhancing the artistic and civic pride of Miami-Dade County.

Some of ArteAmericas 2012 sponsors and partners included American Airlines, Bacardi, FedEx, El Nuevo Herald, Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and many other companies and organizations which understand that events like AA contribute to the positioning of Miami as an international destination for the arts.
