Unity on the Bay Mass Same Sex Marriage Ceremony




A wonderful mass wedding ceremony for over 18 same-sex couples was officiated at Unity on The Bay, following the legalization of same-sex marriages in Florida, starting January, 6 2015. 


The event took place on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Unity on The Bay’s facilities in Edgewater at 11a.m., when families and friends showed up to share such a special moment in their loved ones’ lives. 


Rev. Christopher Jackson and Rev. Elizabeth Longo conducted the ceremony as they congratulated the couples.


The Unity on The Bay choir performed beautiful songs according to the occasion, followed by a small reception where everyone had an opportunity to mingle and share the joy.


Several media representatives were present to cover the event, including NBC6, CBS4, WSVN-7, and Diario Las Americas.

Unity On The Bay 6th Annual Gala 2014


On November 14th, Jungle Island’s Treetop Ballroom hosted Unity on the Bay’s 6th Annual Gala. The evening included a cocktail reception featuring a vast selection of silent auction items, followed by a fantastic three-course dinner.


The MC’s for the evening were the charismatic Tiffany Fantasia and the talented Dale Stine, who is also the Unity on the Bay choir’s director. Together they kept guests entertained in between entertainment numbers.


The funds rose through sponsorships, bids, donations and ticket sales supports the several community outreach programs that Unity on the Bay supports throughout the year, which make a difference in the community, positively impacting the homeless, youth in distress, children and adults with disabilities and other groups facing challenge, hardship and transition.


The event lasted until midnight in the Treetop Ballroom at Jungle Island. The evening’s entertainment included Axis, a multicultural and musically diverse band, and Union Six, a sextet and band who offered a “barbershop style” repertoire.


Unity on the Bay is a dynamic and positive spiritual community embracing all faiths, dedicated to prayer, education and service, supporting spiritual growth and transformation. Founded in 1927, the congregation currently consists of over 2,000 members from diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds and was also known for being the spiritual community to which Maya Angelou belonged to.
